Polki
Polki refers to uncut, unpolished diamonds that are used directly in their natural crystalline form. Unlike rose-cut or brilliant-cut diamonds, polki stones retain the rough skin of the diamond and scatter light in a soft, diffused, old-world manner that cannot be replicated by modern cutting. The setting technique is nearly identical to Kundan — the stone is foil-backed to amplify its light — making each Polki piece a work of extraordinary luminance.
